This morning we drove to the town of Caesarea on Mediteranean Sea. It was King Herod's City which included a palace, port, and hippodrome. This picture is of mom and I performing at the amphatheater. Mext to this was the Crusaders fort. We saw a movie about it and had lunch in the cafe facing the port. We had lamb cabobs and fried lamb dumplings. Then we went to the town of Haifa and the Bahai Gardens which stretched from the top of the mountain to the sea. The place had armed Bahai guards who searched and scanned us, but the gardens were beautiful snd the view was spectacular so it was totally worth the scanning bit. At the bus our tour guide Chava cut us up some passion fruit which was very delicious and sweet. Wedrove to Nazarith and went to the church of the Announciation. There was a Friday service there which we saw and we viewed the grotto where Mary and her family lived - the church now stands on it and you can actually look down to the bottom floor of the church and see where they lived. The first church on this site was destroyed so this one is relatively new. We walked down the street to a bakery which makes knaffe- made with cheese and honey with this crunchy stuff on top and chewey on the inside- fantastic- will have to google this and see if we can figure out how to make it- their recipe is secret. Cocktails and dinner buffet at the hotel tonight-the Golden Crown hotel in Nazareth. Very good food but eatting way too much. There is a huge pool here but it is not open and is cold this time of year- what a shame!
