We loaded into 3 jeeps this morning for an exciting adventure in the desert. We drove up the dry river beds through very interesting sand sculptures. We saw a deserted fort up on a cliff-the upper part was a fake fort to make enemies think there were more soldiers there- the bottom part was the real fort. We had a picnic lunch under the trees in a howling sand storm. We tasted the desert foliage which tasted like pure salt.
After this hot adventure we went to the pool and swam a few laps, then on to the sea- 33% salt makes for constant floating, if you get offbalance you just flip up onto the other side and back up to the surface again. The thermostat on the lifeguard stand reads 44 degrees- plenty hot!!! The sea is warm but cooler than the air by far. We coated up in Dead Sea mud and let it dry before getting back in. The bottom of the Sea is soft like sand but when you reach down it is 100% salt.
